Currently, using ‘bundling’ technique to distribute potentially unwanted programs has become a popular way. Most malware get installed mainly through freeware downloads and installation. LuckyStarting.com comes into the computer also bundled with freeware. When you download the free software, please make sure you download it from the official website or other reliable sites. Many notorious websites provide a direct download link in order to attract users to download their rogue applications. Such suspicious website usually bundle rogue applications with the freeware that you are going to download. So you should be extremely cautious. When installing the target software, you also need to pay attention to the installation process. If the setup wizard allows you to select the Advanced or Custom Install, you should select them rather than the Recommended or Quick Install. Although the Quick Install will also show you the additional programs bundled with the freeware, but not every time it will show you. To reduce the risk of infecting malware, it is suggested to choose Advanced or Custom Install that will reveal any extra programs for you and allow you to choose to install or not. Most often, these additional programs are checked by default. If you don’t know about these programs, you’d better not tick these options before clicking Agree or Install button. If you find some programs require you to change your default search engine, homepage and new tab into its website, never agree to make such change.
