question-mark-icon Question 3: How to avoid malware like in the future?

Usually, browsers are hijacked when some potentially unwanted programs are installed on the PC. In fact, browser hijackers can enter the computer by being bundled with other third-party applications on the Internet. If you don’t pay attention to downloading and installing software from the web, it’s quite easy for such malware to get into your machine. Here are a few tips on how to prevent such malware and protect your computer:

Beware of what you click. Avoid visiting websites that provide pirated material. If you have to download a program, go to its official site and download it from there. Some other websites also provide you with the program, but they may implant some other items that you don’t need in the software packages and the software bundlers contain potentially unwanted programs like adware, spyware and browsers hijackers. In addition, be cautious when you open an attachment from someone or company that you do not know. Many malware can be spread from a computer to another computer via emails. You never know what the attachments include. If you have to download the attachment, make sure there is a real-time security tool on your PC. Avoid clicking on clickable ads on websites that you are not familiar with. Some of them may take you to malicious websites or download harmful files to your PC. Then your browser settings may be changed and the default homepage may be hijacked by viruses like

Pay attention to the installation process. When you install a program, you may keep clicking on the Next button or I accept button without thinking. This is a red flag. Some “special offers” may be offered during the installation and they can be installed on your PC when you click on the Accept button. To prevent this, you’d better choose the Custom Install rather than the Express Install and read the licensing agreements before clicking the “I accept” button. If any information in the agreements indicates that you’ll get adware or spyware, you can cancel the installation of the software.

Install anti-virus/malware software. A good anti-virus program can protect your computer from viruses effectively. Its real-time protection can scan what you download or visit automatically and make sure your computer is secure. If some malware are installed due to your carelessness while surfing the web, the antivirus program is able to inform you of the infection alerts and perform the removal immediately.
